A US citizen was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Lebanon. His name is Kamel Ahmad Jawad. He is a resident of Dearborn, Michigan, USA.

His friend Hamzah confirmed Jawad's death in an Israeli airstrike on social media.

The news of Jawad's death was also confirmed by the office of Democratic US Representative Rashida Talib. Kamel Jawad is a representative of the United States Congresswoman's constituency in Palestine.

His daughter Nadine Jawad said in a statement that her father was killed while trying to save innocent lives in Lebanon on Tuesday. He wanted to live near a hospital to help the elderly and disabled.

"We are deeply saddened by Jawad's death," a White House spokesman said in a separate statement. Our deepest condolences to his family and friends. His death, like that of many Lebanese civilians, is a tragedy.

According to the Detroit News, Jawad was in Lebanon to take care of his elderly mother.
