According to several police sources, many influential police officers have not yet joined the work despite the ultimatum of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Police Headquarters. A search has been started to arrest these officials who are absconding or hiding as criminals.

Interior Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury's words also have that glimpse. At the end of the law and order committee meeting yesterday, he said that the members of the police who have not yet joined will be brought under the law.

We will not call them police, we will call them criminal.

According to the police headquarters, 187 members of different levels of the police have not yet joined the workplace. Apart from this, many policemen are absent from work place due to various tactics and reasons. Cases have been filed against 184 members of the police including three former IGs across the country on the charges of shooting and killing during the student movement.

Among them there are 99 people of DMP.

Senior police officials say that officers who are absconding or absconding without attending duty are seen as criminals. They will be found and brought to justice. A departmental case will be filed against them.

As per the decision of the interim government, departmental action will be taken against those who cannot return to work.

Investigation and trial of criminal cases already filed on the basis of specific facts and evidence will proceed according to law. No exemption will be given to those who have the slightest connection.

On the other hand, many new cases are being filed against police officers who have been fired, ex-officers and those who are in hiding without joining due to corruption, murder, torture etc.

In this regard, DIG (Operations) of Police Headquarters Rezaul Karim said that the arrest of some accused policemen in criminal cases is allowed. Those found are being taken into custody.

Not returning to work at the top of the list of fugitives Harun
Police former Additional Commissioner of Police Mohammad Harun-or-Rashid, accused in 38 cases, is at the top of the list. He hasn't been fired yet. Haroon is number one on the list of police headquarters as an absconder.

Harun came under more criticism for detaining the coordinators of the movement in the DB office on the pretext of security. He was not seen in public after August 5.

The Awami League government has instead rehabilitated and promoted the then opposition chief whip BNP leader Zainul Abdin Farooq in 2011, despite the irrefutable evidence of torture against him. After 13 years, on August 19, BNP leader Farooq filed a case against Harun at Sherbanglanagar police station of DMP.

Where is the revolution?
