Question: There is a social organization of non-Muslims in our area. They do various types of developmental work. This time they have taken several developmental works in our area. Under this, they also want to donate for the development of mosques in the area.

Now we want to know, will it be permissible to accept the donation given by the organization of non-Muslims for the mosque or not? If it is permissible, it can be spent on any work of the mosque?

Answer: Mosque is the place of worship of the Muslim Ummah. One of the main Shir or signs of Islam. It is the responsibility and duty of Muslims to provide for its maintenance, necessary development and all expenses.

In the Holy Qur'an, Allah the Exalted has said - The mosques of Allah will be built by those who believe in Allah and the Day of Resurrection, establish prayer, pay Zakat and fear none but Allah, and it is hoped that they will be among those who are guided. . (Surah Tawba: 18)

In the Tafsir of this verse, Imam Abu Bakr Jassas (RA) said, the demand of this verse is not to associate the infidels with all matters related to entering the mosque, building the mosque, and maintaining it. (Ahkamul Quran 3/87)

Therefore, the necessary expenses of the mosque must be provided by voluntary donations of Muslims. In this case, accepting donations from non-Muslims is against the religious spirit and values of Muslims.
