Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) or drones will be manufactured in Bangladesh. A new company 'Sky Biz' will manufacture this drone. These drones will mainly be exported abroad. The company will sign an agreement with the Bangladesh Export Processing Zone Authority for the drone factory land today.
This factory will be inside the Bepja Industrial Estate of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpa Nagar in Mirsarai Upazila of Chittagong. Sky Biz will invest around Tk 550 crore for this.
The company hopes to start commercial production of drones early next year. They aim to export drones worth 169 million dollars or about 2,300 crore rupees every year.
Jaseem Ahmed is behind this initiative of making drones in Bangladesh. He has business in textile and garment accessories sector in Dhaka and Ishwardi EPZ.
Jaseem Ahmed has built two companies named Global Levels Bangladesh Limited, a joint venture of Spain-Bangladesh and Jinq Global Textile Bangladesh Limited, a joint venture of China and Bangladesh.
He is now investing in the development of modern technology UAVs with the future in mind.
According to him, this initiative represents many dreamers and confident youth.

Jaseem Ahmed said, their drones can be mainly used for civilian purposes such as pesticide spraying, fire fighting, delivery services, and conducting relief distribution and rescue operations.
Jaseem Ahmed said that the proposal given to Bepza showed the target of manufacturing and exporting 7 thousand 314 drones a year.

Bepza Executive Director (Public Relations) ASM Anwar Parvez said that they are going to enter into an agreement with Sky Biz to lease the land for setting up the factory.
