250 tons of rice missing from food warehouse in Lalmonirhat

Jumbangla Desk: It has been alleged that about 250 metric tons of rice has gone missing from Bhotmari food warehouse of Kaliganj upazila of Lalmonirhat. The incident took place on Thursday (October 3) night.
It is reported that since the removal of the rice, there is no trace of Ferdous Alam, the officer in charge of the godown. Deputy Commissioner HM Raqib Haider has formed a four-member investigation committee in this incident.
Allegedly, Ferdous, the officer in charge of the godown, removed 25 sacks of rice on Thursday night. After receiving information, Kaliganj Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Zahir Imam raided the warehouse. At that time, as the rice mill and the warehouse officer were missing, the warehouse was sealed. It is estimated that the market value of these rice is around three and a half million taka.
Since then, the administration started operations. In the operation, 30 metric tons of rice in 600 sacks were recovered from Shukandighi of the upazila on Friday (October 4) afternoon. Later, the upazila administration raided various godowns in the area.
The upazila food controller filed a general diary in Kaliganj police station as a plaintiff in this regard. Besides, an investigation committee of 4 members has been made by the Deputy Commissioner.
Kaliganj police station officer-in-charge Imtiaz (OC) Kabir said, we will send the statement of the case to the ACC's integrated office in Kurigram. Then legal action will be taken.
