Jumbangla Desk: Hilsa is now almost twice the export price in Bangladesh. Hilsa is being sent to the country from Barisal since the day after the government gave permission to export to India. Due to the effect of export, the same size hilsa has to be bought from the market at twice the price. Buyers are blaming the delivery and postal system for this.

Hilsa

Artdars are busy exporting hilsa to India on the occasion of Durga Puja from Barisal Port Road Fish Landing Centre. 3000 tons are being packaged and sent to India every day with the aim of export. Among them, 4 and 250 metric tons of hilsa were allowed to be sent from Port Road market till October 12. An average of 15 tons of hilsa is being sent from here every day. However, due to less fish, the traders are worried about meeting the target.

Meanwhile, according to the news of fish export, Hilsa is being sold at almost double the price in Barisal, which is beyond the purchasing power of common people.

Fishermen were forced to give fish by taking bribes from the fishermen. The price increases with this strategy of setting the lowest price and giving the fish to the highest bidder.

These activities have been going on since Thursday morning after the Ministry of Commerce on Wednesday allowed the export of hilsa fish to India on the occasion of the upcoming Durga Puja. Hilsa exports were closed from 2012 to 2018. After that, Bangladesh exported hilsa to India on the occasion of Durga Puja for five consecutive years.
