Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who is visiting Bangladesh today, sought this cooperation during a courtesy call on the President at Bangabhaban.

President Sahabuddin also requested the cooperation of the Malaysian government in the 'economic reform' program of the current interim government.

President's press secretary. Zainal Abedin told reporters that during the meeting, they exchanged views on various issues of bilateral interest, especially trade, investment, economic, technical cooperation, Rohingya issue and labor market.

The President said that Malaysia is the second largest destination for Bangladesh's manpower exports. Bangladesh's manpower is playing an important role in the economic development of Malaysia and Bangladesh.

The Head of State said that in the past 53 years, cooperation and partnership between Bangladesh and Malaysia has been increasing in various sectors including trade, investment, agriculture, human resource communication, culture, tourism and education.

Congratulating Malaysia for assuming the chairmanship of ASEAN in the coming year 2025, the President expressed hope that ASEAN will contribute significantly to regional peace, security, regional trade and investment growth under Malaysia's capable leadership.
He called for support for Bangladesh's status as a 'Sectoral Dialogue Partner' of ASEAN.


Stating that the visit of the Prime Minister of Malaysia to Bangladesh will be a milestone in the development of relations between the two countries, the President said that this visit will take the bilateral relations of the two countries to a new height.

He said that the relationship between Bangladesh and Malaysia is very deep. Malaysian people love Bangladeshis very much as they play an important role in the economic development of Malaysia.

President Sahabuddin stressed the importance of making the flow of labor to Malaysia transparent and easy.

The Prime Minister of Malaysia assured technical assistance in the implementation of various reform programs of the interim government.

In the meeting, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's four members of the Council of Ministers, the relevant secretaries and the Malaysian High Commissioner appointed to Bangladesh were with him.

Bangladesh was represented by the foreign advisor. Touhid Hossain, advisor to the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs. Asif Nazrul and concerned secretaries were present.
