Sellers are giving various excuses. In such a situation, the rising price of daily necessities is a distressing situation for the common working people.

The prices of daily commodities are increasing uncontrollably across the countryAfter the change of government at the beginning of last August, the extortion in transportation of daily necessities and raw materials came down a lot.

Consumers thought that the price of everyday products in the market will come to a more bearable level. But the price of goods has increased instead of decreasing. Prices of various daily products including rice, fish, meat, eggs, vegetables are not within the reach of low income people. From July to October, the prices of several daily commodities increased by 9 to 50 percent.

On Friday (October 4), the capital's Kachukshet and Bhashantek raw markets were visited, the prices of each vegetable increased by Tk 10-15 compared to last week.

10-20 rupees per kg of broiler chicken and 10 rupees per day egg have increased compared to last week. Last week broiler chicken was sold at Tk 180 per kg but today it is seen selling at Tk 200 per kg. Also, Pakistani coke is being sold at 270 rupees. Last week a dozen eggs were available at Tk 155-160 but today they are seen selling at Tk 180.

Egg seller Fazlul Haque said that the demand for eggs has increased due to increase in the price of fish and vegetables. As a result, eggs are being sold at a higher price than before.

On this day, kankarol is 80 taka per kg, radish is 80 taka, tomato is 200 taka, bitter gourd is 80 taka, beans are 300 taka, cucumber is 60-80 taka depending on the size, papaya is 50 taka, patal is 60 to 70 taka, chichinga is 80 taka, beetroot is 160 taka, carrot is 200 taka. Taka, prawns are sold at 100 taka, long eggplant 80 taka and round eggplant 160 taka.

Also, sweet pumpkin is being sold at Tk 50 per kg, gourd at Tk 70-80 per piece, rice pumpkin at Tk 50-60, lemon halli at Tk 40, kachurmukhi at Tk 80-90.

However, prices of onion, potato, garlic and ginger remain unchanged. Like last week, onion is being sold at Tk 115-120 per kg, potato at Tk 55-60, garlic at Tk 200 and ginger at Tk 260-280 per kg.

Abdul Awal, a resident of Paschim Bhashantek of the capital, said, 'I buy eggs as an alternative to fish and meat. As the price is increasing, eggs should also be avoided. The prices of all vegetables are also out of reach. Once we could have one meal with dal and alu bharta, but due to the price of potatoes, we have to give up eating alu bharta.'

Barisal

The prices of eggs, chicken and vegetables have increased in Barisal market. Eggs are being sold at the price of Tk 55 every day in the market on the pretext of increasing the price of chicken feed. Compared to last week, broiler is being sold at the rate of Tk 180 per kg, broiler at Tk 180 per kg, goldfish at Tk 240 per kg, layer by Tk 20 per kg at Tk 310 per kg.

In addition to this, the price of vegetables has also increased. In the market, green chillies are being sold at Tk 300 per kg, cockles at Tk 60, tomatoes at Tk 180-200, carrots at Tk 180, brinjal at Tk 100, cucumber at Tk 55, and cucumber at Tk 60 per kg.

The wholesale fish market has seen that compared to last week, the price of hilsa has decreased by Tk 2,000 per maund. Hilsa of 1.5 kg weight is 80 thousand, 1200 grams is 76 thousand, 1 kg is 72 thousand and 700-900 grams of hilsa is being sold at 65 thousand taka.

However, Hilsa is being sold in the retail market at the same price as before. One and a half kg is 2300-2400, 1200 grams is 1950-2000, 1 kg is 1800-1900, 700-900 grams is 1650-1700, 500-600 grams is 1350-1400 and very small hilsa is being sold at 450 taka per kg. Meanwhile, onions are being sold at the price of Tk 90-100 per kg and potatoes at Tk 55 per kg in the grocery market.

Buyers say that the prices of all products including fish, chicken, vegetables and eggs are high in the market. If the government controls the market then the common people will be freed from suffering. The traders say that they are selling at a higher price due to buying at a higher price. Moreover, they are giving the excuse of floods and rains in different places.

Meherpur


Even after importing from India, the price of potato and onion is not decreasing in Meherpur market. Egg prices are on the rise. Potatoes are being sold in the retail market today at a price of Tk 60 per kg. Onion 110 to 120 taka per kg. Eggs are being sold in the wholesale market with an increase of Tk 10 and are being sold at Tk 400 per cage. After changing hands, those eggs are being sold at 15 taka each in the retail market. Prices of all types of vegetables have increased due to low imports.

A vendor in the market said, I am getting news of onion coming from different ports. In Bamandi market, onions are being sold at Tk 110 to Tk 120 per kg. We don't know why this happened. If it is monitored by the administration then its fair facts will come out.

Another person said, imported onions do not go to Meherpur district, no one buys them. Desal onion price is high. Retail sale of onion at 110 to 120 taka. But this price is high.

Sylhet

In Sylhet, the prices of all types of daily necessities have increased over the course of a week. Compared to last week, vegetable prices have increased by Tk 5 to Tk 10 per kg this week. With an increase of Tk 10 per kg, tomatoes are being sold at Tk 160 per kg, green chillies at Tk 400 per kg, potatoes at Tk 60 per kg. Cucumber is being sold at Tk 80 per kg, which was Tk 70 to Tk 75 last week, shrimp is being sold at Tk 90 to Tk 100, beans are being sold at Tk 200 to Tk 220.

The price of meat is also high. Broiler chicken is being sold at Tk 180 per kg, beef is being sold at Tk 1100, beef is being sold at Tk 800 to Tk 850.

Rajshahi

In Rajshahi market, green chillies are being sold at Tk 320 per kg after an increase of Tk 100. 15 to 20 extra per kg price of other vegetables. Prices of eggs and broiler chickens have increased.

Potatoes are being sold at Tk 50 at the previous price. Ginger is being sold at Tk 120 per kg. Garlic is being sold at Tk 220. Potal is being sold at Tk 40 per kg, bitter gourd at Tk 80 per kg. Eggplant is being sold at Tk 90 per kg. The price of chicken eggs has increased. It is being sold at Rs 162 per dozen increased by Rs 18. Broiler chicken is being sold at Tk 180 and beef is being sold at Tk 750 per kg, up Tk 10 per kg.

Sellers say that if the supply in the market is affected, it affects the product and there is nothing they can do about it. Buyers urged the new government to increase regular surveillance in the markets including breaking up syndicates.

Khulna

The prices of many vegetables and eggs have increased in Khulna market within a week. The price of vegetables has increased by Tk 10 to Tk 20 per kg. Pepe has been sold from Tk 30 to Tk 40, horseradish from Tk 50 to Tk 60, brinjal from Tk 120 to Tk 140, red vegetable from Tk 50 to Tk 60, barb from Tk 40 to Tk 50, green pepper from Tk 220 to Tk 260.

The price of eggs has increased by Tk 12 per dozen and is being sold from Tk 156 to Tk 168. However, prices of onion, garlic and potato are stable. Who is dissatisfied with the price?

Bogra

The price of vegetables has increased in Bogra. Almost every vegetable including chilli, brinjal, bitter gourd has increased by at least Tk 20 to Tk 40 per kg. In the space of a week, raw chili has increased by 80 taka and is being sold at 320 taka. Apart from this, brinjal has increased by 40 taka and is being sold at 100 taka, corolla has increased by 20 taka to 80 taka per kg. Potato and onion prices are stable. Although the fish, chicken and egg markets are stable, the prices of these have also increased.

The sellers said that the price of vegetables has gone up due to the few days of rain. Broiler chickens are being sold at Tk 185 and gold chickens are selling at Tk 260 down by Tk 20. Eggs are being sold at Tk 52.

Buyers said that the price of the product has not yet reached the purchasing power. They complain that no action of the government is working.

Chittagong

The price of vegetables is gradually increasing in Chittagong. A visit to various markets in the city on Friday showed that the prices of most vegetables have increased over the week. Now tomatoes are being sold at Tk 200, Cauliflower at Tk 200, Eggplant at Tk 120, Cabbage at Tk 160, Cucumber at Tk 100. The price of golden chicken has increased by Tk 30 per kg in a week. Domestic and broiler chicken prices remain unchanged.
