In a condolence message on Saturday (Oct 5), the adviser prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased and extended his deepest sympathy and condolences to the bereaved family members. At the same time, he assured the bereaved family of all support.

On the other hand, he also instructed the managing director of Bangladesh Shipping Corporation to form an investigation committee to investigate the cause of this sudden accident and submit an investigation report with recommendations.


Before this, on Friday (October 4) at 12:50 PM, a fire broke out on board the Bangladesh Shipping Corporation's 'MT Banglar Sourav' under the Ministry of Shipping in the Mediterranean Sea at the Patenga beach area of ​​Chittagong. After about four hours, the fire was brought under control with the joint efforts of the Navy, Coast Guard and Port Authority. The vessel was used as an oil tanker for Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC).

Meanwhile, 47 crew were rescued alive by the Navy and Coast Guard rescue team. Besides, one person was rescued after jumping into the sea and was taken to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where the doctor declared him dead.
