Prize distribution of 'Ispahani 4th Bangladesh Open Squash' tournament held

Sports Desk: The prize distribution ceremony of Ispahani 4th Bangladesh Open Squash Tournament was held at the Army Squash and Tennis Complex located in the Cantonment of the capital.

Famous women and men squash players from home and abroad participated in the country's biggest squash tournament organized by Bangladesh Squash Rackets Federation.

Rabindra Laksiri of Sri Lanka emerged as the champion and Alta Mimi of Kuwait was the runner-up in the competitive final match held at the Army Squash and Tennis Complex in the capital on Friday (October 4).

Also in the Women's 'Satellite Tour' competition Yehini Kuruppu of Sri Lanka won and Marjan Monika of Bangladesh became the runner up.

Since 2021, this tournament is being organized courtesy of Ispahani.

Bangladesh once again successfully organized another PSA Challenge Tour-3 event through the four-day international tournament from October 1 to 4. The PSA or Professional Squash Association is the world governing body of professional squash.

In PSA 'Challenge Tour-3' of 'Ispahani 4th Bangladesh Open Squash 2024', top 2 players from Bangladesh played against players from India, Pakistan, Egypt, Iran, Kuwait, Sri Lanka, Australia, New Zealand and Ireland. Besides, in the satellite tour organized for girls, the best 6 women players of Bangladesh played with Sri Lankan professional women player Kuruppu.

Prior to the main tournament, a national level competition was organized in various groups with 90 selected players from 19 clubs/institutions including Rangpur, Chittagong, Gopalganj, Dhaka and Jhenaidah Cadet Colleges.

Bangladesh Army Chief of General Staff Lt. Gen. Mizanur Rahman Shamim was present as the chief guest at the awarding ceremony of 'Ispahani 4th Bangladesh Open Squash 2024', Mirza Salman Ispahani, Vice President of Bangladesh Squash Rackets Federation and Chairman of Ispahani Group, was the special guest.

General Secretary of the Federation Retired Brigadier General GM Kamrul Islam along with officials of the Federation and Ispahani Group, invited guests, journalists, and local and foreign squash players were also present.

Lieutenant General Mizanur Rahman Shamim in his speech thanked the Bangladesh Squash Rackets Federation and sponsor Ispahani for giving such a wonderful tournament and said that they will continue to cooperate in the development of squash in the future.

Mirza Salman Ispahani in his welcome speech thanked all those involved in the tournament and thanked the organizers for sponsoring the tournament.

He expressed his determination to always support the promotion and development of squash game in Bangladesh.

General Secretary of Bangladesh Squash Rackets Federation Retired Brigadier General GM Kamrul Islam in his speech thanked the Bangladesh Army and Ispahani, and expressed hope that the players of Bangladesh will reach a better position in the world squash in the future.
