Lifestyle Desk: It is obligatory for women to take a bath after cohabitation, sleep deprivation, intentional ejaculation and menstruation. Bathing is also necessary to perform certain rituals.
Compulsory bath
Usually the sooner you shower the better. The same is mentioned in the hadith. The scholars forbade prayer, tawaf, recitation of the Qur'an, touching and entering the mosque after the ablution is obligatory. Besides, any work can be done.
On the authority of Hazrat Abu Huraira (RA), he said, Rasulullah (SAW) met him on one of the roads of Madinah. Abu Hurairah (R.A.) was in the state of Janabat (obligatory ablution) at that time. He said, I felt myself impure then and moved away. Later, Abu Hurairah (RA) took a bath.
When they met again, Rasulullah (S) asked, Abu Hurayra, where were you? Abu Huraira (RA) said, I did not think it appropriate to sit with you in the state of Janabat. So I left. Then the Prophet (pbuh) said, Subhanallah! A believer is never impure. (Bukhari 279)
However, there are several hadiths about washing the naked body and performing ablution before doing any work, even if other work is not completely prohibited. Narrated by Hazrat Ayesha (R.A), Rasulullah (S.A.) used to perform ablution like ablution for prayer when he wanted to eat, drink or sleep in the state of Janabat (obligatory bath). (Muslim 305)
Many people miss the prayer because they are late for the obligatory bath. Farj ghusl can never be wajr for performing namaz. In this case, you should take a bath as soon as possible and perform the prayer and repent.

Ghosal being obligatory does not mean that the body is impure. If someone thinks that a woman cannot do any housework after the obligatory bath or during menstruation, then that is her personal opinion. It has no basis in Islam. Ablution and bath are to be done only for worship. Also not for any other work. However, it is virtuous to always try to remain pure by ablution. So it is better to perform ablution and bath first.
