8,500 members still suspended in Ansar rebellion: DG

Jumbangla Desk: Director General (DG) of Ansar and Village Defense Forces, Major General Abdul Motaleb Sajjad Mahmud said that about 8,500 Ansar members have been temporarily suspended from their workplaces due to the rebellion of Ansar members after the student uprising. He said this at a press conference on Saturday (October 5) at the headquarters of Ansar and Village Defense Force in Khilgaon in the capital to ensure the security of Autumn Durga Puja.

Abdul Motaleb Sajjad Mahmud said that 2 lakh 12 thousand 192 trained Ansar-VDP members will be deployed in a total of 32 thousand 666 puja mandaps across the country. All these members will be engaged in the security of the temple for 6 days from October 8 to October 13.

He said that after the uprising of the students, some unruly members of Ansar revolted in front of the secretariat. In view of this, a fury has arisen among the students. In the context of the movement of disaffiliated Ansar members, we formed an inquiry committee. The initial work of that inquiry committee has been completed.

Ansar DG said, "After this movement, we temporarily suspended about 13 thousand 80 Ansar members. After suspending them we did not give them any duty. However, we have further verified these 13 thousand 80 people. We included 4 thousand 669 people who were not related to the movement or were involved in the program under amnesty.

Can any other work be done without the obligatory bath?

Abdul Motaleb Sajjad Mahmud said, but still 8 thousand 611 members of Ansar have been temporarily suspended. And legal action has been taken against those who played a very aggressive and violent role during the movement. In view of these allegations, 447 members of Ansar have been arrested. So far 11 cases have been registered against unruly Ansar members. Departmental action will be taken against them as per law.
