Meta, the parent company of the platform, has brought two new features to the widely used social media WhatsApp status. These two new features of WhatsApp are being launched in the Android version.

The first one is the option to like status updates and the second one is the private mention. A few days ago only two features were available in the beta version of WhatsApp. But now the features are officially launched for all devices.
The status like feature allows the person sharing the status to send a like reaction. For this, tap on the heart icon next to the WhatsApp caption bar. And on tapping, the like notification will go to the person who posted it.
But the likes will be private. That is, the person who has liked and whose status has been liked will know about it. They can see a viewers list. This feature makes it easier to respond to status updates.
Another new feature for WhatsApp is 'Private Mention'. It's just like tagging someone in an Instagram story. But only the person who will be mentioned here can see the status.
Simply put, only that person you mention will see your status and others won't be able to see your status. If you mention someone else in the status, the notification will go to him immediately.
The status can be re-shared from the mentioned account. But still others will not know about it. This is a great feature to maintain privacy between two people. These new features are now rolling out to everyone. Both features will be available on all your devices gradually.
The new features will definitely make sharing WhatsApp status more interesting. A few weeks ago, WhatsApp also brought a new update for the channel feature.
With the update, users can now follow new channels by category. These categories include - People, Organizations, Lifestyle, Sports, Entertainment, Business and News & Information.
WhatsApp recently added new 'filters' and 'backgrounds' for video calls. So now users can select the option they like from among the new 10 filters and 10 backgrounds of WhatsApp.
