Sports Desk: Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is not able to avoid controversy in any way. Controversy and BPL are inextricably linked. Even though the authority of the board has changed, this picture has not changed. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is bound by various problems with this season as well. Many problems have arisen before the start of the player draft.

BPL will be played on December 27. And the BPL players draft will be held on October 14. Bangladesh Cricket Board has not finalized the team even though there are few days left.
Despite extending the time several times, not all franchisees are yet to submit the participation fee. This is the main reason why this year's BPL roadmap is hanging. The BCB president called an emergency meeting on Saturday under compulsion. But no decision came from there either.
Farooq Ahmed discussed the potential participating teams at the BCB office on Saturday. The discussion went on for hours. But no solution came. BCB president could not give any positive news after the meeting. Words of hope are the only means.
Talking to the media, Farooq Ahmed said, '95 percent of the franchise has been fixed. But there are still some payments left. We have repeatedly extended the time. As our draft is on the 14th, hopefully everything will be settled before then.'
An important decision was also to be taken about the retention of BPL in this meeting. However, the discussion has progressed somewhat. According to preliminary discussions, the three new BPL franchises will be able to add three cricketers to the team on direct contracts out of the draft.
And the old franchises can retain two cricketers with one cricketer directly in the team. However, the board could not take a formal decision on this issue as well.
Farooq said, 'Retention would have worked better if there were seven teams. Since there are not seven teams, there are four teams and three teams are newcomers. Some adjustments have to be made to accommodate both those who are there and those who will come.'
Along with the reforms, the government will also advance the preparations for the elections
He added, 'There we have come to a stage. We have been meeting for a long time. They are our partners. They are doing very well. They want to work hand in hand with us.'
