International Desk: The current situation should have been a happy moment for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. His 40-year dream is finally coming true. He is moving towards destroying all the so-called 'terrorist states' in the Middle East. Netanyahu has followed a strategy for more than 40 years, which he outlined in his 1986 book Terrorism: How the West Can Win.

In the book, Netanyahu defines terrorism as, 'a planned and organized process to achieve political goals by killing, injuring and terrorizing innocent people.' It basically describes the activities that Israel has been doing for the past year in the besieged Gaza and currently in Lebanon. The mainstay of his counter-terrorism theory is the use of force.

Netanyahu thought he would deal with the Palestinian problem by imposing a blockade on Gaza and gradually establishing Jewish settlements in the West Bank. But that strategy collapsed on October 7, 2023, with a Hamas-led offensive. Since then, he and his allies have adopted a policy of total war, launching massive attacks against the Palestinians and accelerating the process of occupation.

However, by killing Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah, Netanyahu has opened the 'gates of hell' for Israel. After Nasrallah was killed, a retaliatory attack from Iran was only a matter of time. The Lebanese armed group is showing no signs of weakening despite a surge in attacks against Hezbollah. On the contrary, they continue to counterattack the Israeli ground forces.

Next is Iran. Netanyahu's long-held plan and dream to embroil the US in a war against Iran in the Middle East has now brought disaster for himself. Israel's current crisis is a reflection of his strategy, which is causing Israel's long-term crisis and instability in the Middle East. On the night of October 1, more than 180 Iranian missiles hit Israel's military bases, including Tel Aviv. Tehran has shown they can strike back. Just a day after the Iranian missile attack, Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan met with the Iranian president in Doha. There he said, 'We want to close the book of disagreement with Iran forever.'

This statement by the Saudi foreign minister proves that this is not the 'new Middle East' that Netanyahu has been working towards for so long. This is Israel's nightmare. The stark reality of Israel's military might (no matter how many people it kills) and its isolation is now clear to all.
