Zoom-Bangla Desk: In a few days, the city dwellers saw the second round of sinking of Dhaka metropolis. In the last 15 years, Dhaka North and South City Corporation has spent several crores of rupees to solve the waterlogging of the capital, but the situation has not improved. If it rains a little, most areas of Dhaka go under water. Meanwhile, the continuous rains have caused waterlogging along with the traffic congestion which has increased the suffering of the city dwellers manifold.

Like other parts of the country, the Met Office had already predicted heavy rains in the capital. There is no stopping the incessant rain. After the overnight rain, it continued to rain continuously in Ashwin in the morning and afternoon. Waterlogging has occurred in various roads of the capital, Oligli, due to prolonged rains. Due to which the speed of vehicles decreases and traffic jams are tied on various roads. All in all, there is no end to the suffering of the people of the capital who go out for work. The city dwellers had to suffer endlessly due to waterlogging on various roads till late night.

Meanwhile, the rain falling under the influence of low pressure created in North Bay of Bengal is not stopping soon; Rather, the Meteorological Department has indicated that such a trend may continue for a few more days. In the forecast for the next 24 hours, it is said that there may be light to moderate rain or thundershowers with gusty winds in most parts of Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Barisal and Sylhet divisions and in many parts of Rangpur, Khulna and Chittagong divisions. Also moderate heavy to very heavy rain may occur in some parts of the country.

Waterlogging occurs. In many areas, sidewalks across the road have also sunk. Water entered the ground floor of many large commercial buildings in Motijheel.

Roads from Nayapaltan in the capital through Kakrail to Shantinagar are almost knee-deep in water. In between, waves caused by traffic are hitting sidewalks and shops. Mofizur Rahman, a pedestrian who came to that road, said that the whole road has accumulated knee-deep water.
In between, when the vehicles are moving, the waves are coming and crashing on us. Water has entered many shops. And the rain continues. All in all, those who went out to work today have suffered a lot.

Bappi Sardar, a resident of Banasree, is in Paltan. In the morning, he came to the office in a wet water bus. He thought that the suffering would be less when he returned home in the afternoon. But on his way, he saw water flowing from Kakrail to Malibagh area. Parvez said, managed to reach Kakrail properly. After that, rickshaws, CNG do not want to go. And those who want to go, they are asking for almost three times the rent. Due to less number of buses, it is so crowded that there is no way to board it. Even though I was forced to pay extra fare, I returned home.

Ariful Islam, a resident of Moghbazar, said, I went to office in the morning with a rickshaw in knee-deep water. As the rain subsided, I thought the water would go down in the afternoon. But I returned home again by rickshaw with extra fare. Shakibur Rahman, the driver of the Anabil bus from Gulistan in the capital, said that heavy traffic has been created in the entire area from Gulistan to Paltan, Kakrail, Shantinagar, Abul Hotel, Rampura Bazar due to rain. Vehicles are moving very slowly due to waterlogging on various roads. Many roads are knee-deep in water, people and public transport are suffering a lot.

Saidul Islam, a passenger of the Baishakhi bus coming from Gabtali to Mohakhali, said that water has accumulated on the road leading from Agargaon to Jahangir Gate. People are suffering from the rain since morning. In between, I have seen the traffic congestion here due to waterlogging.
