The name of the deceased garment worker is Maryam Akhter (18). The name of the accused youth. Tarek (20). He is a mason by profession.

According to the police, Tarek killed Maryam Akhtar on Friday night in Hadu Majhir Para area of ​​Panchlaish police station of the city on suspicion of having a love affair with a friend. Tarek had an affair with Miriam. Tarek's house is in Bhola. He worked as a construction worker. Murder victim Maryam's house is in Patuakhali Sadar. He was a garment factory worker in the city.

Tarek called Mariam on Friday night around 8 pm and asked to meet her. When they come to meet, they argue about various issues. Suspecting that Maryam is having a relationship with someone else, the two quarreled.

Maryam died due to stabbing, the police said, Tarek stabbed Maryam's throat one after another during an argument. He then quickly fled from the spot.
