7 people died in Sherpur flood

Jumbangla Desk: 7 deaths have been reported in Sherpur so far due to landslides and heavy rain water coming down from upstream. On Sunday (October 6), Nakla Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Habibur Rahman confirmed the matter.

He said that one person died in Nakla last Saturday night. Besides , five people died in Nalitabari upazila and one in Jhenaigati.

According to the Agriculture Office, at least 30,000 hectares of aman crops and 1,000 hectares of vegetable crops have been damaged in the district. At least 70 thousand farmers have been affected.


Deputy Commissioner Tarafdar Mahmudur Rahman told the media that the water of several rivers in the district is flowing over the border. District administration and upazila administration are on alert. We are working to rescue the victims and deliver dry food.
