Jumbangla Desk: A businessman named Abdur Rahim (35) was released eight hours after being abducted in Raujan, Chittagong.
The abductors brought him to the Jalilnagar bus stand of the upazila around 6:30 pm on Saturday (October 5) and released him.
Earlier, around 10:30 am, he was abducted from Unsatarpara residential area of Pahartali Union of the upazila.
Deputy Inspector (SI) of Raujan Police Station Shimul Chandra said, 'During our action, the kidnappers released him. Footage has been collected from the scene. Efforts are on to identify the culprits. Later, legal action will be taken subject to investigation .'
The abducted businessman Abdur Rahim is the son of Shahidul Islam of North Howla Union of Laksam Upazila in Comilla. He has a business called M/s RS Metal and Furniture Gallery in Pahartali Chowmuhani Bazar.
The victim Abdur Rahim said that around 10 am on Saturday morning, a group of seven people who came on three motorcycles stopped his speed in Unsatarpara residential area. Then pointed the weapon at him and took him on the back of the motorcycle. They first took the businessman to the rubber garden above Girishaya Restaurant in Ward No. 9 of Raujan Municipality.
At that time, the person who was with him in the business took 1 lakh 9 thousand taka. Around 4pm, the kidnappers took him to the barren hills of Dabua. Two more people joined there. Later in the evening brought to Jalilnagar bus stand and dropped off.
