Jumbangla Desk: An idol artist from Natore has created the image of Durga Pratima with golden colored rice. His initiative has already received a response in the district . This Durga Puja, decorated with rice, will be done at the Rabi Sutam Sangh Mandapam in Lalbazar Kadmatla of Natore city.

The idol was made by a team of four artists led by Biswajit Pal, an idol artist from Lalbazar. Biswajit Pal said, they have been making idols for generations. Every year the organizers want something new in the statue. Request to do something new. This time the Ravi Sutam Sangh asked for an idol wrapped in golden paddy for their mandap. Knowing that the work is not very easy, he started the work.

This idol artist said that about a month ago, the structure of wood, bamboo, jute and beechali was first made to make the Durga idol of this mandap. Later it is made into the shape of the idol with clay. Before the soil dries up, one by one golden colored paddy is placed on the soft soil in the shape of an idol. After the paddy planting is completed, the idol appears to be wrapped in gold. Planting paddy one by one is very challenging. Because more than 50,000 paddy fields have to be planted in this way. After that, the original image of the whole idol including the eyes and face has been drawn out by scraping the paint. He hopes that fans and visitors will be impressed by such artistic works.

Ravi Sutam Sangh general secretary Partha Roy said, 'Every year we try to bring innovation in the form of Durga Pratima. In continuation of this, this time we plan to make idols out of paddy. But it was not very easy to make the shape of the statue by arranging rice paddies. We resorted to renowned idol artist Biswajit Pal. He and his team are doing the work. The work of making the idol has already been completed. This is the first such work in the district.

Durgotsavam is being celebrated in 354 pujamandaps in Natore district. This time 38 Durga Pujas are less than last time.
