With the aim of realizing the importance of genetic resources in food security, dealing with the risks arising from climate change, sustainable socio-economic development and meeting the needs of the present and future generations, the draft 'National Gene Bank Management Policy-2024' was presented for approval in the advisory council meeting. .

A committee consisting of advisors, Ministry of Agriculture and Advisors, Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock has been formed by convening the Advisor, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change for the draft of 'National Gene Bank Management Policy-2024'.

The Ministry of Science and Technology will provide secretarial support to the committee. The committee will finalize an updated and revised draft of the policy in consultation with relevant stakeholders.

The revised 'National Gene Bank Management Policy-2024' will be sent to the Cabinet Department for presentation in the Ministry of Entrepreneurship Advisory Council meeting.

Also in the meeting, the Advisory Council adopted a formal congratulatory resolution for the Bangladesh national cricket team's 2-0 win over hosts Pakistan in the two-match Test series, which will be issued through a gazette notification.
