Nishant Preeti, CEO of 'Is My Trip' on social media platform X, said that positive progress has been made in India-Maldives bilateral relations with the initiative of the governments of the two countries. In such a situation, during the recent visit of the Maldives delegation to India, based on constructive discussions with the tourism minister of the country, the booking of travel to Maldives has been started again.

He further said, being a premier company in India, we are always in touch with our government and support their vision. But again, it is a progressive step towards the new friendship of the two countries and the goal of increasing tourism.

In January this year, tensions flared between the two countries after Malsha Sharif, Mariam Sheuna and Abdullah Mahjum Majid, three Deputy Ministers of the Ministry of Sports, Health and Recreation of the Maldives made 'insulting' comments to the Indian Prime Minister.

Soon after, Indians called for a tourism boycott of Maldives and created an online platform called Maldives Boycott. Amid this boycott campaign, Is My Trip stopped all bookings and flights to the Maldives.

As a result, tourist arrivals to the country from India, the top tourist market of the Maldives, decreased significantly. After that, among the three Deputy Ministers of Maldives, Malsha and Sheuna resigned from their respective positions. Meanwhile, in important high-level talks between the two countries, both governments committed to reducing bitterness and improving relations.

On the invitation of Indian President Draupadi Murmu, the President of Maldives will go on a state visit tomorrow Sunday (October 6). Mohammad Muijju. He will be in India on a five-day visit from October 6 to October 10.
