International Desk: A new program has been announced for 3-year work permits for post-graduation programs for those studying on international student visas in Canada. Those applying for international student visas after Nov. 1 must ensure that they complete Canadian labor-sector complementary language training after graduation, the Department of Immigration announced on Friday.

The same announcement also mentions that the previous 966 academic programs for foreign students and international students coming to Canada have been reduced to only 5. These are - agriculture and agri-food, health-care, science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and business and transport. This new work permit system is being introduced to meet the huge demand of manpower in these sectors.

It should be noted that post-graduation foreign students with credit are given the opportunity to live permanently in Canada. And post-secondary education programs are being managed under the 'Classification of Instructional Programs' (CIP).

According to the Canadian government, the new rules, which will come into force on November 1, require all post-graduation work permit applicants from both colleges and universities to pass a language test. Level-5 for College Grade and Level-7 for University Grade should be passed as per Canadian Language Benchmark.

Meanwhile, after analyzing data related to Canada's immigration, a non-governmental organization called 'Apply Board' said that in the first 6 months of this year, i.e. up to June, 1 lakh 5 thousand 30 post-graduation work permits have been issued to foreign students. 64% of them are international students graduating from college.

At the same time, 42% of business administration graduates received work permits. 37% of STEM and Computing IT sector received 16% of foreign students. In this way, talented foreign students are being given the opportunity to devote themselves to the overall development and welfare of Canada.

However, finance and accounting subjects are excluded from the above programs despite the demand. It may be recalled that although the practice of providing work permits to foreign students is already in place, now emphasis is being placed on learning the Canadian language.

In other words, it is believed that language education is made compulsory with the intention that those who will settle permanently after higher education can spend the rest of their lives more comfortably with Canada. And because of these reasons, Canada has become the top choice of foreign students.
