BNP Standing Committee member Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku has returned to the country after a long time. He arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on a Thai Airways flight around 2 pm on Sunday. Later, he paid tribute and recited Fatiha at the shrine of late BNP founder Ziaur Rahman in Sherebangla Nagar.

On May 23 last year, the High Court upheld the trial court's sentence against him in a corruption case. On the same day after the judgment of the case, BNP leader Amanullah Aman went to jail but Tuku went into hiding. This leader of BNP standing committee left the country before the verdict.

Iqbal Hasan Tuku returned to the country after the political upheaval on August 5.
