A victim slum owner has lodged a written complaint with the police regarding the theft of mineral sand worth one and a half crore rupees. Humayun Kabir, son of deceased Afzal Uddin of Ghagtia village of the upazila, filed the complaint at Tahirpur police station on September 25.
The accused are Abdullah son of deceased Tajud Rahman of Ghagtia village of Badaghat union of Tahirpur upazila of Sunamganj, his elder brothers Abu Lahab and Safiq and son of deceased Zahir Mia of the same village and their neighbor Subel Mia along with 15-20 unknown persons.
It has been alleged that the police is wasting time in accepting the case in the name of investigation without taking the complaint into consideration. Besides, the complainant is being pressured and threatened in various ways to withdraw the complaint.
According to the written complaint given to the police station, after the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, Abu Lahab, a resident of Ghagtia village of the upazila, took advantage of the deterioration of the law and order situation to cut the bank of Jadukata river, run a save dredger, and build several quarries like ponds on the bank of Jadukata river. Abdullah, Safiq, Subil and unknown 15-20 people openly stole about one and a half million rupees worth of mineral sand and stones from the Jadukata River slums inherited by Humayun Kabir and sold them to influential syndicates by taking boats, small and big trawlers through the Jadukata River and selling them to influential syndicates for about one and a half million rupees. embezzled
Complainant Humayun Kabir further mentioned in his written complaint that 15-20 members of Lathial force hired by the accused kept guard with indigenous weapons including Ramda, Dharalo Da, Iron Rod, Shabal and continued the festival of stealing mineral sand and stones.
When Abu Lahab of Ghagtia village of the upazila was contacted to inquire about the complaint on Sunday afternoon, he said that the investigating officer of the police station informed us about the complaint. Efforts are underway to settle the matter.
Tahirpur police station OC Mohammad Deloyor Hossain confirmed the receipt of the complaint and said that an SI has been assigned to investigate the complaint. After receiving the investigation report, the accused will be brought under the law quickly by recording it as a case.
