Jumbangla Desk: Bangladesh Yatri Kalyan Samity has demanded to stop the registration of small vehicles including motorcycles in Dhaka on an urgent basis.

On Sunday (October 6) in Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samiti organized a press conference entitled 'Public transport crisis is the main source of Dhaka's terrible traffic congestion - citizens want liberation', Secretary General of the organization Md. Mozammel Haque Chowdhury made this claim.

In his written speech, he said that the residents of the capital were stuck in a terrible traffic jam due to the disregard of rules and regulations of passengers and transport . It takes more than 4/5 hours to go from one end of the city to any destination. 8.2 million working hours of working people are wasted every day in Dhaka's traffic jam. BUET data says that every year the financial loss in this traffic is 50 thousand crore rupees.

Highlighting the observations of the passenger welfare association, the general secretary of the organization also said that the capital's public transport system has collapsed long ago. Buses and minibuses plying in the city are discolored, discolored, rusted, have no rear light-indicator and front looking glass. Can't sit with two legs on the seat. In the bus, the landing gear, grab handle is broken. Have to stand for long periods of time.

During the hot summer days, the bus is drenched in sweat and in the rainy season, it is always wet from the rain. There is no cleanliness in any bus. Buses are not available on time even after enduring the agony of traveling in filthy, moldy, cockroach-infested, tin-tinned buses. Destination not reachable during office hours. For women, children, disabled, elderly, sick people, getting on these buses and traveling in piles inside is a hellish situation. On top of that, there is the anarchy of collecting extra fare, the misbehavior of drivers and workers.
