What former land minister Narayan Chandra said to BGB after his arrest

He was arrested from the Srinathpur border area of ​​the upazila around 9:30 pm on Sunday (October 6). At this time BGB arrested three others including a woman.


Maheshpur 58 BGB captain Lt. Colonel Shah Md. Azizus Shaheed confirmed the arrest of former land minister Narayan Chandra to Kal Kantha.

How did he come to the border, Narayan Chandra Chand said, 'I came from Jessore. I came to Maheshpur in a private car. Come to this border by van from Maheshpur.'


A BGB source said that he introduced himself as a teacher there.

Admitting that he went to India at that time, he said, 'I have a heart problem. A ring is worn on the heart. My passport has been cancelled. I can't even get a passport. For this reason, I have come to this border for treatment.'


Before this, a case was filed against Narayan Chandra Chand on charges of rape in Khulna on September 29. 18 people including former chairman of Dumuria Upazila Parishad Gazi Ejaz Ahmed were accused in that case.


According to the statement of the case, the former chairman of Dumuria Upazila Parishad, Gazi Ejaz Ahmed, had been raping the young woman for a long time with the promise of marriage. On the night of January 27, the young woman was admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital after complaining of rape.


The next day, a few men forcibly took him into a microbus from in front of the hospital's One Stop Crisis Center (OCC). The plaintiff alleged that the accused persons were close associates and followers of former Land Minister Narayan Chandra Chand.

 

It is to be noted that Narayan Chandra Chand, Member of Parliament of Khulna-5 Constituency, got the responsibility of Minister of Land Ministry in the 12th National Parliament Election. He was elected Member of Parliament for three consecutive times in 2008, 2014 and 2018 elections. Earlier on January 12, 2014, he took oath as the Minister of State for Fisheries and Livestock. A few days later, when the Minister of Fisheries and Livestock Chayedul Haque died, he got the responsibility of the minister of that ministry.
