Jumbangla Desk: In Phulbari Upazila of Kurigram, two groups clashed over participation in the funeral of BNP leader's father. 8 people from both sides were injured. This incident took place between supporters of Upazila BNP President Nazir Hossain and General Secretary Abdul Mannan Mukul on Sunday (October 6) afternoon and afternoon.
It is known that BNP leaders and activists went to participate in the funeral of the father of upazila BNP leader Mostafizar Rahman Mukul on Sunday. An argument broke out between the supporters of Nazir Hossain and Abdul Mannan in Naodanga Pulerpar area of the upazila over taking part in the funeral. At one point, there was a clash between the two groups.
According to BNP activists and local sources, after the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, supporters of Upazila BNP president Nazir Hossain occupied the Umesh Chandra Club house in the upazila city. They are using the signboard in that room as a party office.
Supporters of Nazir Hossain alleged that while they were staying in the office, some activists of Abdul Mannan group attacked them without provocation and vandalized the party office in the upazila. 3 of their activists were injured.
Upazila BNP General Secretary Abdul Mannan Mukul said, "President Nazir Hossain's supporters hastily vandalized the party office. They first detained our leaders and activists inside the house. The police went and rescued them. 5 activists were seriously injured in their beating.'
Upazila BNP President Nazir Hossain's mobile phone was called several times but it was disconnected.
