Jumbangla Desk: 26 people were killed in Sylhet in anti-discrimination student movement. The bodies of 4 people, including journalist ATM Turab, who were killed by the police, were autopsied, but the remaining 22 were handed over to their families for hasty burial without post-mortem.

26 people were killed by police and BGB firing in Sylhet from July 18 to August 5 this year. About a month ago, the court ordered the exhumation of the bodies of 6 people who were shot dead during the student movement in Golapganj upazila of Sylhet.

Although the interim government talks about the justice of these murders, there are many fears about the trial of the killers because of the lack of post-mortem. However, according to the order of the court, the bodies of 9 people killed in the student movement are being taken out of the grave for autopsy. Among them, there are 6 bodies in Golapganj upazila and 3 in Biyanibazar. After all the preparations are completed, the bodies will be taken out for post-mortem very soon.

However, the police said, considering the overall situation during the student movement, it was not possible to conduct the autopsy of the 6 dead. Later, after the family of the deceased filed a case of murder with the police station, the investigating officers requested the autopsy of the deceased in the court. Following the application, the court ordered the body to be exhumed from the grave in the presence of the magistrate.
