Jumbangla Desk: The water in the rivers has started decreasing in Sherpur. This has improved the overall flood situation of the district. However, thousands of families are still under water.
The people of waterlogged areas are suffering. Relief aid has not yet reached many places. However, the district administration says that assistance has already reached the affected areas.
According to the information of Agriculture Department and Fisheries Department, 47,000 hectares of arable land in the district has been submerged under the flood water. Apart from this, 1 thousand hectares of vegetables have been damaged. And more than 6,000 fish cages have sunk. Aman and fishermen have been affected by this. At least two quarter lakh farmers of the district have lost everything.
The administration has assured incentives and full cooperation to the affected farmers.
Deputy Commissioner of Sherpur Tarafdar Mahmudur Rahman said that the water of almost all the rivers in the district is below the safe limit. The water has started receding which has improved the overall flood situation in the district.
