A student named Rifat Hossain (14) committed suicide inside a madrasa in Nangalkot. The incident took place at Tamirul Quran Hafizia Madrasa in Noapara village of Bangadda UP on Sunday evening.

Rifat is the son of Saudi expatriate Ripon Mia of Paishakhi village in Laksam East Union of Laksam Upazila.

According to police sources, all the students and teachers were offering prayers in the mosque during Maghrib on Sunday evening. Meanwhile, Rifat went to the living room and strangled him with a towel. Later, when the teachers came from the mosque and saw Rifat hanging, he brought him down and called a doctor. After an examination, the doctor declared him dead.

Rifat's father Ripon Mia said, I had a talk with the head of the madrasa on Sunday afternoon. Huzur said - If you call in the afternoon, you can talk to Rifat. In the evening, the master of the madrasa called me and said - Rifat committed suicide.

Nangalkot police station OC AK Fazlul Haque said, I visited the spot after getting the information. The body was handed over for burial as there was no complaint from the family.
