Speakers at the rally said that the Indian government has violated international river laws by unilaterally withdrawing the waters of the Teesta. Not only in the case of Teesta, they are similarly controlling or unfairly withdrawing the water flow of 54 rivers coming from India.

Speakers also said, due to India's water encroachment, once we are drowning in flood water, another time we are burning in drought. Tistapar's people's life, nature is in the face of destruction today. Due to poor flow of water in the river, the sand is falling and the river bed is being filled with sand. As a result, thousands of acres of land are being lost under the influence of river erosion and floods in this monsoon, crops, houses and towns are being washed away.

They also said that the livelihood of nearly 2 crore people in the northern region is at risk due to unilateral water withdrawal by India. Agriculture-fishery resources, environment-nature of the entire region are disturbed. At this time, the speakers demanded the interim government to implement the Teesta master plan with the right share of Teesta water.
