The Muslim 500: The World's 500 Most Influential Muslims is published every year, reviewing the influence and contribution of Muslims worldwide, which has been running for 16 years.

In this published list, influential Muslims are selected in five categories. These categories are: Religious, Political, Science and Technology, Arts and Culture and Sports and Entertainment. Each category includes Muslim personalities who have made significant contributions in their respective fields.


Peace Nobel laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus, who has long been known around the world as the founder of Microfinance and Grameen Bank. This time he was listed as the chief advisor of the interim government. His contributions to economic development and leadership in solving global problems earned him a place in this list. He is one of the most influential Muslims in the world from Bangladesh.
