East Shah Ahmederpara of Ramur Chakmarkul Union of Cox's Bazar is a populous village. Thousands of families in this village have been suffering from the shortage of fresh water for the past decade. The village does not get water from shallow tube wells during the dry season for irrigation schemes. Even if water is available in monsoon, it is unusable due to dirt. As a result, thousands of families in the village have to go for food and water almost kilometers away, which has caused extreme suffering in their daily life.

This time the Danish government has come forward to solve this water crisis. A non-profit organization of the local government called 'Haisawa' has arranged clean water supply for about 1 thousand 200 families in the area with the financial support of the Danish government. Fresh water is being delivered to every house by laying pipelines in deep tube wells.

Water is being supplied to 100 houses through pipelines from solar powered deep tube wells. Already 55 families are getting this facility and more families will be added gradually in the coming days, said the concerned.

Maryam Begum, a local woman member of UP, said that most of the people in this village are poor and they have been facing extreme problems due to water shortage for a long time. But now they are getting the benefit of safe water supply through Denmark's 'Hisawa' project, which has made their life a lot easier.

Beneficiary of the project, Humayun Azad said, for the past decade, there was no water suitable for food even after going down 7-800 feet; But through this project we are getting safe water at home. This is very important for us.

Local resident Syed Ahmed said, earlier one had to go a kilometer for food and water, but now we are getting water at the door of the house. It has brought great changes in our lives.

Meanwhile, various initiatives of the local government and health department are also ongoing for the implementation of this project. 'Haisawa' is working not only in water supply but also in the development of sanitation system.

Local chairman Nurul Islam Sikder said that due to safe water, the risk of family members being affected by water-borne diseases has decreased. This project is a blessing for us.

However, with the implementation of the project, the road has been damaged due to the movement of heavy vehicles, which has caused inconvenience to the local people. Locals have complained about this; But many are satisfied with the benefits of this project.

Nurul Osman, managing director of Hisaw, said that the shortage of fresh water in Cox's Bazar is acute. Through our work we have been able to bring positive changes in people's lives.

Jhinuk, a local beneficiary, said, "Earlier I used to work with Bill's pond water, which was not safe. Now I have access to safe water, which has helped my family a lot.

People of this region are facing many problems due to climate change. There is a shortage of clean water and drinking contaminated water causes various diseases. However, the health safety of the people is being ensured through the 'Haisawa' project.

Directorate of Public Health Engineering Cox's Bazar Executive Engineer. Mostafizur Rahman said that the shortage of safe water in Cox's Bazar is acute. To eliminate this crisis, various non-governmental organizations are working along with the Directorate of Public Health Engineering. The work of Haisawa organization through LGED in Ramuteo is helpful for us.
