A sex worker named Sumi Akhter Mita (31) was allegedly strangled to death by tying her hands and feet and wrapping a veil around her neck in Daulatdia barred village of Goaland upazila of Rajbari. The police recovered the body from the room of his residence around 2 pm on Monday.

Mita lived on rent in a room on the second floor of Jahangir and Dabir's house in Palli. His home is in Dohar Upazila of Dhaka District. He was living in this village for 7-8 years.

According to the police and Singapalli sources, Mita danced on the dance floor of Saeed's house at around 11 pm on Sunday and drank alcohol. Later he returned home with a customer from there.

On Monday morning, after not seeing her, the other girls of the house went to Mita's room on the second floor. There they found the door of Mita's room open and found Mita dead on the bed inside with rope tied to the window grill. At that time, a veil was wrapped around her neck. In this incident, panic has spread in the sex village.

When the police were informed about Mita's case around 11 am on Monday, Rajbari Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Operations) Mukit Sarkar and Goland Ghat Police Station OC Rakibul Islam visited the spot. After reporting the situation there, the body was recovered at around 2 pm and sent to Rajbari Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem.

Gwaland Ghat police station OC Rakibul Islam said that the deceased has a 4-year-old daughter named Mitar Afrin. Initially, it appears that he was strangled to death. However, it is still not known why and who committed the murder. We are trying to unravel the mystery of the murder and quickly arrest those involved.
