Jumbangla Desk: Advisor to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Syeda Rizwana Hasan said that the use of single use plastic will be stopped in Saint Martin. Besides, several measures will be taken, including limiting the number of tourists and banning overnight stays on the island.

He said this in a press briefing at the Secretariat on Monday (October 7). There were also discussions on St. Martin's eco-friendly tourism system and biodiversity protection.

Syeda Rizwana Hasan said, "Initiatives are being taken to make Saint Martin, Cox's Bazar and Kuakata free from single use plastic."

He said, 'This coral island is the only one in our country. Therefore, necessary steps will be taken to protect it.'

The environmental advisor said, 'The previous guidelines should be followed to ban single use plastic. Apart from this, a decision will be taken in consultation with the hotel owners, tour operators and the Ministry of Tourism before the start of the tourism season.

He also said, 'I want to keep Saint Martin alive for future generations. I want to see the island as a noise free area.'
