In addition to establishing a private medical college in Rajshahi, he has taken two royal flats of 3,600 square feet in his own name, one in the name of his son and one in the name of his second wife in Gulshan, Dhaka. In the latest affidavit of 2024, agricultural and non-agricultural land has shown at least 51 bigha. But according to the information in the affidavit submitted before the 2008 elections, Shahriar Alam had no immovable assets.


The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched an investigation against him after finding preliminary evidence of illegal acquisition of thousands of crores of rupees in the name of himself and his family members. The commission recently decided to investigate Shahriar's illegal assets. Instructions for appointment of inquiry officer are also given.


A senior officer of the ACC, on condition of anonymity, said that in the changed situation, investigations are underway against the former ruling ministers-MPs and bureaucrats as part of the ongoing anti-corruption program of the country. The commission has decided to investigate as specific information was found against Shahriar Alam in the intelligence investigation of the ACC. Investigation will reveal the real truth.


According to the complaint, Shahriar Alam has set up his own business in Russia, Brazil and China by laundering money along with corruption and irregularities. In the 2008 affidavit, his movable assets were shown to be Tk 2 crore 3 lakh 20 thousand. The loan in the name of various companies was 76 crore 14 lakh 29 thousand 422 taka. In the 2024 election, he showed movable assets of Tk 89 crore 24 lakh 9 thousand 973. And show that the debt of 76 crore rupees in the name of his company has also been paid. That is, during this time he has acquired at least 165 crores worth of movable assets. In the 2018 election, the movable assets of his two sons were only 79 lakh 10 thousand 662 taka. In five years, their movable assets have increased to 7 crore 45 lakh 1 thousand 482 taka.


It is also known about the details of assets, Shahriar Alam bought 25 bigha of land in Chowdhuryhat area of ​​Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila in 2010 after becoming MP for the first time. There he built bungalow house, cow farm, tissue culture lab and bonsai laboratory. He also took a bank loan of Tk 200 crore by showing that land. Besides, he established North Bengal Agro Farms Limited in Vasantpur of Godagari Upazila of Rajshahi.


Shahriar Alam bought 13 bigha of land in Kaliganj upazila of Lalmonirhat district in 2017. A farmhouse has also been built there. Different types of crops including expensive vegetables and fish are being cultivated there. Basically Shahriar Alam spent his childhood in Lalmonirhat district. On that occasion, he bought land there and built a farmhouse. His longtime APS Siraj's home is also in this Kaliganj upazila.


Shahriar Alam bought land worth crores of rupees at a low price by setting up a garment factory in his constituency Rajshahi-6 (Charghat-Bagha) area. Which includes 33 cents of land and cinema hall with buildings and many other lands including 33 percent of the land on the eastern side of the Upazila Land Office.


Shahriar Alam divorced his first wife Ayesha Akhter Dalia and married Sylvia Parveen Leni, daughter of a local Awami League leader in Lalpur, Natore. It is alleged that he made second wife Leni's mother Roxana Mortuza Lilly the mayor in 2021. His wife gave Leni a royal flat of 3,600 square feet in Gulshan, Dhaka.


Sources say that after becoming an MP in 2008, Shahriar Alam committed extensive looting and extortion in his constituency due to the addiction of building wealth. He single-handedly controlled all government grants and schemes including TR-Kabikha through his APS Sirajul Islam. Even in the recruitment of school-college-madrasa teachers, bribery is done. He took a large amount of bribes through APS for various jobs including jobs and transfers.


In 2008, Shahriar Alam was riding in a Honda CRV model car worth Tk 10 lakh 5 thousand when he was elected as a Member of Parliament for the first time.
