On Monday (October 7) at 10 a.m. in the upazila sadar market, several vegetable vendors were seen sitting there arranging a spread of green chillies. There is no sale. Sometimes some buyers go back with a bargain. Some buyers were seen buying green chillies at higher prices. Some are also buying by the piece.
A resident of Kaladi area of the upazila said that he bought 15 green chillies from the market for 30 taka this morning. Like him, many other low-income earners are buying chilli in this 'piece method'. It is cost saving. He complained that due to the lack of supervision of the administration in the market, the prices of raw chillies and other daily commodities are increasing by leaps and bounds.
Vendors say that the high price of green chillies is due to low import in the market due to continuous rains. However, several buyers complained that the prices of daily commodities including raw chili are increasing due to lack of supervision in the market.

In this regard, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Fatima Sultana said that she will continue to supervise to keep the prices of daily commodities normal and stable in the market. Allegations of lack of supervision are not true.
