International Desk: Tropical storm 'Milton', located off the coast of Mexico, has gained more strength. According to meteorologists, Milton has strengthened and is now close to reaching Category 5.
According to CNN, this powerful storm will hit Florida's Gulf Coast on Wednesday night (October 9). Authorities have already warned Florida residents about the issue.
Milton is now moving at 155 mph, according to the National Hurricane Center. It is just two miles away from a Category 5 hurricane. If the storm reaches Category 5, it will be the second hurricane to hit of the year. Earlier in early July, Beryl first made landfall as a Category 5 hurricane.
Meanwhile, Governor Ron DeSantis urged Tampa Bay area residents to evacuate their homes ahead of Hurricane Milton's landfall on Florida's Gulf Coast.
Incidentally, late last month, Hurricane Helen hit Florida's Big Bend coast. At that time the wind speed was 140 miles per hour. In addition to the loss of life, the hurricane's ravages brought down numerous trees and power poles in Big Bend and surrounding areas. At the same time many houses were damaged and hundreds of roads were submerged.
