On Monday (October 7), the notification was issued by the Cabinet Department setting up the commission. Later, the notification was published in the gazette form.


The members of the Constitution Reform Committee are Sumaiya Khair, Professor of Law Department of Dhaka University, Bar-at-Law Imran Siddiqui, Muhammad Ikramul Haque, Professor of Law Department of Dhaka University, Advocate Sharif Bhuiyan of Bangladesh Supreme Court, Bar-at-Law M Moin Alam Ferozi. , writer Firoz Ahmed, writer and human rights activist. Mustain Billah and student representatives. Mahfuz Alam.


The notification informed that the Bangladesh government has formed this commission to review and evaluate the existing constitution of the country to establish a representative and effective democracy and to prepare a report with the necessary recommendations for the purpose of reforming the constitution.


The Constitutional Reform Commission will start its activities from October 6 and will hand over the report prepared within the next 90 days (3 months) to the Chief Adviser to the Interim Government after considering all relevant views.

 

The notification also said that the office of the commission will be determined by the government. The head and members of the commission will get the rank, salary/emoluments and facilities as decided by the government. However, if the head of the commission or any member wants to perform duties as unpaid or does not want to take privileges, the chief adviser to the interim government can approve it.
