The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) acknowledged the information in a statement on Monday.

At the same time, the Israeli military also announced the deployment of more troops to Lebanon, where the war against the Hezbollah group is expanding rapidly.

The dead soldiers are Master Sergeant (Reserve) Itay Azulai (25) and Warrant Officer (Reserve) Aviv Magen (43).


Azulai is a resident of the Oranit border settlement in the West Bank. And Magen is a resident of Herut. They were killed in a mortar attack near the Lebanese border on Sunday evening.

The IDF said Azulai was killed at the scene. And seriously injured Magen died in the hospital on Monday morning. They were both members of the IDF's elite force 5515 Combat Mobility Unit.

A third soldier who was with them was seriously injured.

Meanwhile, 11 Israeli soldiers have lost their lives since the ground operation in Lebanon with these two dead soldiers.

Among them, 9 Israeli soldiers were killed in the fight with Hezbollah after the attack on Lebanon last week.

On the other hand, a total of 729 Israeli soldiers have been killed since October 7, 2023. Of which 347 people were killed during the ground operation in Gaza.

Israel has started military operations in Lebanon since September 30. The aim of which is to destroy Hezbollah's infrastructure in the border region. The operation is being carried out mainly to help the residents of northern Israel to return home safely, especially in the villages bordering Lebanon.
