A drug dealer named Abdul Qadir Jilani has been arrested on the charge of buying and selling foreign liquor including beer on a tourist boat in Sunamganj's Tanguar Howar.

A team of the Tekerghat temporary police camp of the police station conducted a raid and arrested him in the early hours of Sunday.

However, two other associates of Jilani escaped. At this time, the police recovered 60 bottles of liquor of various foreign brands including beer.

Later, on Monday (October 7), a case was filed in the name of three professional drug dealers at the police station. Tahirpur police station filed the case as plaintiff.

The accused in the case are - Abdul Qadir Jilani, son of village doctor Idris Mia, son of village doctor Lakmar of Uor Sreepur Union of Tahirpur, Awal Mia, son of Golam Hossain of the same village and Manu Mia, son of Samsuddin.

On Monday night, Tahirpur police station OC Delwar Hossain said, those three professional drug dealers named Abdul Qadir Jilani, Awal, Manu were selling foreign liquor (beer) to a number of intoxicated tourists who came to Niladri in Tekerghat on a tourist house boat centered at Tangua Howar. They had been dealing in all kinds of foreign drugs as a family for the past few years.

OC Delwar also said that a team of Tekerghat temporary police camp conducted a raid on Sunday morning based on secret information that Abdul Qadir Jilani, son of rural doctor Idris, was buying and selling drugs with his two associates at his home in Lakma village of the upazila.

Police seized 60 bottles of liquor of various foreign brands including beer from Abdul Qadir Jilani's bedroom in the raid. At that time, professional drug dealer Abdul Qadir Jilani was arrested, but two other drug dealers Awal and Manu escaped quickly by avoiding the police.

On Monday, Awal and Manuk were absconding and Abdul Qadir Jilani was arrested at Tahirpur police station and the police filed a case as plaintiff under the relevant section of the Narcotics Control Act.
