After independence Bangladesh and Russia signed 'Alliance and Cooperation' agreement. According to that agreement, Bangladeshi students are getting the opportunity to study in Russia in honors, masters and PhD courses. Russian universities offer courses in science, arts and commerce. Bachelor's degree in Russia lasts four years, Master's degree lasts two years, specialized diploma lasts five-six years. But in the beginning every student has to learn Russian language for one year.
Admission information and scholarship arrangements
In the academic year 2025-26, the Russian government has announced 124 scholarships for Bangladeshi students for Bachelor, Specialty Degree, Masters, Training in Residence and PhD courses. Only online applications will be accepted. Address to apply online (https://education-in-russia.com).
The application period is from 7 October 2024 to 25 January 2025. However, original and photocopies of all educational qualification certificates and number sheets/transcripts must be attested by Bangladesh Ministry of Foreign Affairs before applying. Passport must be valid for more than 18 months from September 2025. After completing the online application, attested copies of all educational qualification certificates and mark sheets along with copies of online application, photocopy of passport, medical certificate (Hepatitis ABC, Tuberculosis and HIV Absence Report), Consent Letter and 1 passport size color photograph to Education Department of Russian House in Dhaka Must be submitted.
Application submission time at Russian House is 10am to 5pm from Sunday to Thursday.

Admission time and academic year
The academic year in Russia is divided into 2 semesters. The first is in September and the second is in February.
Two weeks in January and six weeks in July-August are semester breaks. Students will also have part-time job opportunities. Also, foreign students will get the opportunity to work part-time throughout the year along with their studies.
