The advisor said, in the overall judgment analysis, the tiger survey conducted in the Sundarbans in 2023-2024 found the number of tigers to be 125 and the density of tigers per 100 square kilometers of forest was found to be 2.64. Compared to 2018, the number of tigers in Sundarbans has increased by 9.65 percent in 2024 and by 17.92 percent compared to 2015.

Rizwana Hasan also said that the first tiger survey was done in 2015 through modern camera trapping methods to determine the number and in this survey the number of tigers was found to be 106 and the density of tigers per 100 square kilometers was 2.17. In 2018, 114 tigers were found in Sundarbans tiger survey through second phase of camera trapping and the density of tigers per 100 square kilometers was 2.55. Compared to 2015, the number of tigers increased by 8 in 2018 and the percentage of tiger increase was about 8 percent.


Earlier, Abu Nasser, project director of the tiger survey program, said many pictures of tiger cubs were found after the bandits and pirates left. We got pictures of many tiger cubs in Chandpai, Sarankhola and Khulna and Satkhira this time.

The head of the survey team is Professor of Zoology Department of Jahangirnagar University. Abdul Aziz said, 'We have seen the reflection of the achievement after the disappearance of Dakat in our latest survey. In this delicate situation, if the Sundarbans hideout is again established, then the optimism that we see will be lost again. A special force can be formed to protect tigers with some members from any force in the country.'

The tiger that lives in the Sundarbans is the Royal Bengal Tiger. This tiger of the tribe Panthera tigris is usually found in Bangladesh and India. Among the subspecies of tigers, the Bengal tiger is the most numerous.
