Jumbangla Desk: 'Nadiar Islam' basically refers to a particular Islamic style originating from Nadia district (a part of present-day West Bengal) which some people want to see as a local or regional form of Islam. Recently, there is a lot of discussion about this issue on the social media Facebook.

Shaikh Ahmadullah, Chairman of As-Sunnah Foundation, Islamic negotiator and social worker, gave a post about this on Facebook today, Tuesday (October 10).

On his verified Facebook page, he wrote, “Islam is only one in the world, Islam never changes regardless of region. Nadia's Islam has no separate Islam. Qur'an and Sunnah determine what is Islam and what is not Islam. It is recognized by Muslims around the world.

When it comes to Islam, those who talk about Nadia's Islam without talking about real Islam, do they do that in all cases? When it comes to democracy, do they look for real democracy, or do they talk about traditional domestic democracy of suppressing opponents and voting at night?

Democracy was born in America. But there is a big difference between the conventional democracy of our country and the democracy of America. Those who divide Islam into regionalism, do they talk about adopting the culture of regional democracy of Bangladesh as opposed to the democracy of America?

Moreover, the number of people who hold Nadia's so-called Islam in this country will not be even 1%. In contrast, about 99% of Muslims believe in Arab Islam, i.e. the Islam described in the Qur'an and Hadith.

What Islam do they want to impose on this large number of people? If someone takes Nadia's alleged and distorted Islam personally, that's up to them. But if that Islam is tried to be imposed on everyone and that is called Islam of Bangladesh, then it can be an item of entertainment, but not Islam.
