The Ministry of Commerce has approved the import of four and a half million pieces of eggs on an emergency basis to keep prices stable.

A notification in this regard has been issued by the ministry on Tuesday. Seven companies have been approved for this import.

According to the approval letter, according to the information of the Department of Livestock, there is a daily demand of about 5 crore eggs in the country. At present, considering the egg market situation and keeping the market price stable, seven companies have been allowed to import four and a half million eggs for a limited period of time.

The import permit period will remain valid till December 31. But some conditions of import have to be followed.
