Professional diplomat Mohammad Khorshed Alam Khastgir was appointed as the next ambassador of Bangladesh to Poland on September 25. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs canceled his appointment 10 days after his appointment.

On Sunday afternoon, Director General of Public Diplomacy Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Toufiq Hasan said that according to the government's decision, the recent decision to appoint Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur Khorshed Alam Khastgir as Bangladesh's ambassador to Poland has been cancelled.

However, the Director General of Public Diplomacy did not give any explanation as to why the government canceled the appointment of BCS 20th batch (Foreign Cadre) officer after 10 days.

After 2021, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs canceled it by appointing a second diplomat. That year professional diplomat Syed Masood Mahmud Khandkar was appointed as ambassador to Brazil. His appointment was later canceled when an investigation into the allegations against Masood Mahmood Khandkar began.

However, speaking to the officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it is known that during the July-August anti-discrimination student movement, Bangladeshi students in different parts of the world held marches and rallies in solidarity. As part of this, on July 19, Bangladeshi students and teachers staying in the country held a rally in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in solidarity with the Bangladeshi student movement. They also sought the cooperation of Malaysian citizens.

After that rally, the Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur called the students and teachers 'terrorists' and reported them to Kajang police station. As a result, students and teachers of the university were subjected to various harassment. A section of expatriate Bangladeshis alleged that Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh Mohammad Khorshed Alam Khastgir played an important role in filing complaints at Kajang police station. He called the people involved in the student movement in Bangladesh as 'terrorists' and urged the Sheikh Hasina government to take strict action against them. According to a leaked WhatsApp group chat of Bangladesh Foreign Service Association (BFSA), Khorshed Alam Khastgir recommended the cancellation of passports of Malaysian expatriates who supported the student movement.
