American scientist John J. Hopfield and Canadian scientist Geoffrey E. Hinton received the Nobel Prize in Physics this year. The award is given to them for important discoveries and innovations in making machine learning possible through artificial neural networks. Their research is playing an important role in the development of machine learning and AI, i.e. artificial intelligence.

Nobel in Physics

Hopfield created a structure that could reconstruct as well as store information. And Hinton developed a method that could independently find properties between data. It plays an important role behind the neural networks used today
