The verdict was handed down on Monday (October 7) in a Washington DC court. Earlier, another judge of the US court had given strict orders about the Google search engine. On this day, the jury of the court gave an opinion in favor of taking action against Google.

Google imposes certain conditions on phone companies for downloading apps from the Play Store on Android phones. For three years, companies can only use Google-made apps on phones 'by default'. That is, those apps can be used as 'in-apps' on the phone. Google's rival app companies do not get this opportunity. The US court ruled against this system.

The judge ordered the formation of a three-member monitoring team. These observers will take care that Google refrains from doing this in the future.

The court said that this judgment will be effective from September 1, 2025. In some cases exemption has been given till July 1. The court asked to ensure that Google does not have a monopoly and that rival companies get equal opportunities.


About 70 percent of the world's smartphone users use Android phones. Google has a monopoly there. Google dominates everywhere from search engines to apps.
