Jumbangla Desk: Dhaka District Additional Superintendent of Police Abdullahil Kafi got a new passport for emigration after he was accused of being involved in the burning of dead bodies in Ashulia during the anti-discrimination student movement. He took the passport in the identity of the city corporation's mosquito spraying worker by concealing his identity.

Later, the matter came to light after the arrest of Kafi from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. Jahangir Alam, Deputy Assistant Director (DAD) of Passport Directorate has been temporarily suspended due to evidence of negligence in this incident.

Additional Director General of Passport Directorate ATM Abu Asad presented these information in a press conference on Monday (October 7) evening.

He said, 'After the matter was caught, the passport obtained with false information was cancelled. Jahangir Alam, Deputy Assistant Director (DAD) of the Passport Department has been temporarily suspended due to evidence of negligence in this incident.

Abu Asad said, 'Abdullahil Kafi returned his government passport taken as a police officer and applied for a normal passport as a City Corporation employee, concealing his identity. For this, he submitted a fake non-objection of the City Corporation.

He said, 'That police officer came in the guise of a commoner to the Agargaon passport office and applied for a passport at the counter designated for everyone. Along with the application form submitted for passport, he submitted the resignation paper from the post of spray man supervisor of Dhaka North City Corporation.

Abu Asad also said in the press conference, 'He applied on August 15. He got a normal passport that day. As per the rules, he got the passport on the same day after submitting the urgent fee. After learning about the secret information and fake documents on September 4, the police officer canceled Kafi's new passport and issued a show cause notice to the concerned people.

The Additional Director General of the Passport Department said, 'On September 9, the concerned persons responded in this regard. On that day the accused Jahangir Alam admitted his negligence. He was suspended on Sunday after everything was checked and confirmed. Legal action will be taken against them if the investigation finds any evidence of negligence.

Abdullahil Kafi was detained from the airport on September 2 when he tried to go abroad with a normal passport. After that, he was arrested in a case of kidnapping and torture in Hazaribagh. On September 3, Abdullahil Kafi was dismissed in a notification signed by Mohammad Abdul Momen, senior secretary of the Ministry of Interior's Public Security Department.
